Box Score 2 Hartford, Conn. – Senior tri-captain OH Hannah Brickley
(Melrose, Mass.) had 15 kills and just four errors to go with two
blocks and a game-high 22 digs to lead the Trinity College Bantams
to a 3-0 victory over the visiting Keene State College Owls in a
volleyball tri-match this afternoon at Oosting Gymnasium. Trinity,
which also lost a New England Small College Athletic Conference
(NESCAC) match to the Middlebury College Panthers today, is now
11-6 overall and 2-3 in the NESCAC. Middlebury, ranked No. 10 in
New England improves to 12-1 overall and 3-1 in the league with a
3-1 win over Keene State in its second match of the afternoon. The
Owls drop to 11-8.
In the first match, Middlebury won the first set against Trinity,
25-18, and the second two by identical 25-21 scores. Megan Jarchow
and Amy Hart paced the Panthers with 14 kills apiece and Kathryn
Haderlein added 34 assists. Trinity sophomore MH Kate Giddens
(Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.) had a team-high 10 kills and nine
digs, while Brickley added seven kills, 15 digs, and two blocks.
Middlebury lost its first set against the Owls, 28-26, but came
back to take the next three, 25-13, 25-17, and, 25-22.
Against Keene State, Trinity won a close 27-25 first set and took
the second, 25-20, before edging the Owls in the final set, 25-23.
Giddens joined Brickley as a double-digit killer with 12 and added
four aces, two blocks, and seven digs, and sophomores Katie Stueber
(Darien, Conn.) and Tori Larson (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.)
notched four blocks apiece.
