Box Score Harford, Conn. – Senior captain MH Emily Doll (Villa Park, Calif.) had 12 kills and 15 digs to lead the visiting Williams College Ephs to a 3-0 victory over the Trinity College Bantams in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) volleyball action this evening at Oosting Gymnasium. Trinity drops to 14-11 overall and 4-5 in the NESCAC, while Williams, ranked No. 3 in New England, improves to 21-4 overall and 9-0 in the league. Set scores were, 25-18, 25-23, 25-17. Trinity closes its regular season at home tomorrow at 2 pm. against Amherst, ranked No. 6 in New England.
Williams used a 6-0 run to turn an 8-8 tie into a 14-8 lead and maintained at least a four-point advantage the rest of the way in the first set. Trinity led, 5-2, and, 11-8, in the second set, but the Ephs scored four straight points their first lead, 16-15. Trinity took the lead back at 19-18 on a service ace by freshman L Kristen Cooprider (Hopkinton, Mass.), but Williams sophomore Catherine Egan (New York, N.Y.) responded with a kill and an ace to take the lead right back. A seesaw stretch ensued and the set was tied for a last time at 23-23 after a kill by senior tri-captain OH Hannah Brickley (Melrose, Mass.), but the Ephs took the final three points. The third set was knotted up at 9-9, following a kill by Trinity junior OH Barbara Massa (Old Lyme, Conn.), but three consecutive Bantam errors gave Williams a 12-9 advantage and the visitors kept the lead for the remainder of the match.
Brickley paced Trinity offensively with a match-high 14 kills and defensively with 12 digs, while sophomore MH Kate Giddens (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.) added nine kills, and senior tri-captain S Amy Hackett (Wallingford, Conn.) contributed 13 assists. Sophomore S Ryan Farley (La Jolla Calif.) amassed 42 assists and added seven digs, while first-year Tori Jasuta (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) added 10 kills and 13 digs, and Egan finished with nine kills without an error, five aces, and three blocks for the Ephs.
