Box Score Northfield, Vt. - Trinity College was named the 2013 Ed
Hockenbury Men's Basketball Classic Champions
following this afternoon's 57-43 win against the host
Norwich University Cadets. Worcester State finished the
tournament in third place after downing the University of
Maine-Augusta 96-56 in the consolation game. Trinity held
Norwich to seven in the first half en route to Saturday's
57-43 win, improving to 6-3, while the loss drops the Cadets to
2-5.Trinity junior guard Hart Gliedman (New York, N.Y.) was named
the tournament's Most Outstanding Player. He was joined on
the All-Tournament team by Trinity junior co-captain
center George Papadeas (Athens, Greece), Norwich's Evan
Tullar (Chelsea, Vt.), Worcester State's Jake Ratcliffe
(Northbridge, Mass.), and UMA's Brandon Rogers (Trophy Club,
Texas).
The Bantams opened the game with a 16-2 run spanning the first
eight minutes of the game, thanks to four treys by four different
players, and held Norwich to just three first-half field goals
for a 31-7 halftime advantage. Norwich turned things
around in the second half, and cut the Bantam lead to 10 points
with 1:25 left in the game, but the game's conclusion was never in
doubt. The Bantams were led by sophomore guard Jaquann Starks
(Hartford, Conn.), who netted a game-high 14 points. Classmate Rick
Naylor (Sudbury, Vt.) added 13 points, and
Papadeas posted a double-double of 10 points and 12
rebounds.
