Box Score Brunswick, Maine – The Trinity College women's soccer team dropped its second straight overtime contest on Saturday afternoon, falling, 1-0, to Bowdoin in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) action at Pickard Field. With the defeat, the Bantams moved to 4-4-1 on the year and 0-4-1 in conference play, while Polar Bears improved to 8-1 overall and 5-0 in league tilts.
Bowdoin first-year forward Eliza Nitzan netted the game winner in the second overtime to help the hosts stay perfect in NESCAC play. Nitzan converted a pass from senior forward Kiersten Turner for her first collegiate tally. The defeat marked the third straight conference game to go to overtime for the Bantams.
Senior forward Karyn Barrett (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) and senior tri-captain Elisa Dolan (Bethesda, Md.) each fired two shots on goal for Trinity, while four other Bantams each had one shot on target.
Trinity junior goalkeeper Monica DiFiori (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) turned aside six shots in a losing effort, while junior Bridget McCarthy made eight saves for Bowdoin en route to her third shutout of the season.
Bowdoin outshot Trinity, 19-12, and took eight corner kicks to Trinity's three.
Trinity returns to action next weekend, Oct. 11-12, welcoming Middlebury and Tufts to campus in conference action. The tilt with the Panthers is slated for Saturday at 11:00 a.m. and the contest with the Jumbos gets underway Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
