Hartford, Conn. – The No. 5 Trinity College men's hockey team erased a one-goal third-period deficit with three unanswered tallies to score a 3-1 victory versus Connecticut College in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) action on Friday night at the Koeppel Community Sports Center on Williams Rink. With their ninth consecutive win, the Bantams improve to 13-1-1 overall and 8-0-1 in league play, while the Camels suffered their second straight setback to move to 6-7-2 on the year and 3-5-1 in conference tilts.

Trailing by a goal almost midway through the third stanza, sophomore forward Sean Orlando (Ivyland, Pa.) knotted the game at one with a power-play marker. Senior captain Michael Flynn (Cheshire, Conn.) worked the puck across to junior forward Michael Hawkrigg (Toronto, Ontario) who placed the puck perfectly on Orlando's stick for a deflection that beat Connecticut College junior netminder Tom Conlin.

Orlando's goal was his team-leading 10th of the season and stole the momentum away from the Camels. A little over four minutes after the game-tying tally, Trinity senior forward Tim Shea (Somerset, Mass.) stole the puck along the boards at center ice, skated in and fired a shot that soared past Conlin's glove and found the back of the net to give the hosts a 2-1 edge.

Later in the third, senior forward Jackson Brewer (Newton, Mass.) gave the Bantams some breathing room with an insurance goal. Brewer banged home a rebound in front of the net to give Trinity their second power-play goal of the evening as once again Flynn and Hawkrigg registered the assists.

Down the stretch, Connecticut College pulled Conlin in favor of an extra skater, but the Trinity defense and junior goaltender Nathaniel Heilbron (West Vancouver, British Columbia) stood their ground to help the Bantams escape victorious.

After a scoreless first period, sophomore forward Ryan Mowrey opened the scoring to give the Camels a 1-0 lead. Senior defenseman Marc Roper started the play with a pass up the boards to sophomore forward Joe Giordano who found Mowrey streaking down the ice. Mowrey collected the feed cleanly and beat Heilbron short side four and a half minutes into the second.

Heilbron stopped 21 of the 22 he faced to register his 10th win of the year for Trinity, while Conlin made 29 saves in a losing effort for Connecticut College.

The Bantams held a 32-22 edge in shots and converted on two of their five power-play opportunities. On special teams, the Camels went 0-for-3 with the man advantage.

Trinity wraps up a weekend of home NESCAC action tomorrow, Jan. 24, with an afternoon matinee versus Tufts. Puckdrop against the Jumbos is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
