Box Score Hartford, Conn. – Junior forward Kristi Kirshe (Franklin, Mass.) had a goal and an assist to lead the visiting Williams College Ephs to a 4-1 win over the Trinity College Bantams in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's soccer action this afternoon. Trinity drops to 1-1 and loses its home and conference opener, while No. 2-ranked Williams improves to 2-0 overall and in the NESCAC.
Trinity jumped ahead early when first-year forward Taylor Kirchgessner (Bethesda, Md.) scored her first career goal in transition off an assist from the right wing by junior forward Andi Nicholson (Grafton, Mass.) 2:37 into the contest. Williams answered quickly, as Kirshe fed junior Audrey Thomas (Bellevue, Wash.) for the game-tying tally in the ninth minute. Eph junior Gabby Suarez (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) netted the game-winning goal 28:16 into the first half when her corner kick from the goalie's left curled around the Bantam defense and into the far corner of the goal.
In the second stanza, Williams received unassisted goals from Kirshe and sophomore midfielder Natasha Albaneze (Northport, N.Y.) while holding Trinity to five shots. Trinity senior tri-captain Monica DiFiori (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) finished with nine saves, including a one-on-one stop on an Eph breakaway and a diving save on another Williams bid while the game was knotted at 1-1, while Tressa Palcheck (Schaumburg, Ill.) had five stops for the visitors. Williams had an 18-to-10 shooting edge and 10 corner kicks against two for Trinity.
