Box Score Hartford, Conn. - Four Bantams scored multi-goal games while four Bantams scored their first career goals as the Trinity College men's hockey team put up 14 goals against Division II Post University on Tuesday night at the Koeppel Center in Trinity's home opener. Trinity returns to action after the Thanksgiving holiday when they host Franklin Pierce on Saturday at 3 p.m., followed by a matchup at home against Southern Maine on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Trinity scored seven first period goals to put the game away early, highlighted by a pair of career-firsts. Sophomore Michael Delisle (Plano, Texas) opened up the scoring just over four minutes into the period as he stuffed a pass from junior Connor Hegarty (Wakefield, Mass.) through the five-hole of Eagle goalkeeper Devin Day (Fontana, Calif.) for his first career goal. After the first of two first period goals by sophomore Tyler Whitney (Wakefield, Mass.), Whitney added his second career score as he cleaned up a rebound off a shot by sophomore Ross Mandigo (Stowe, Vt.) who also had two goals on the evening. Freshman Liam Feeney (Foxboro, Mass.) scored his first career goal with 1:01 left in the period before potting his second goal of the game in the third period via an assist from classmate Barclay Gammill (New Canaan, Conn.).
After a pair of Bantam goals in the second period and a goal from senior Anthony Sabitsky (Sicklerville, N.J.) to open the third period, sophomore Nick Johnson (Dallas, Texas) fired a wrister from just inside the blue line that found the back of the net for his first career goal. Freshman Jack McCarthy (Wakefield, Mass.) also got involved in the career-firsts action as he potted the puck in net at the 16:30 mark in the final period thanks to an assist by Feeney. Senior forward Sean Orlando (Ivyland, Pa.) led Trinity with four points on one goal and three helpers. Day made 58 total saves on the evening for Post after facing 72 total shots from the Bantams. His counterpart, Trinity freshman goalie Tedy Loughborough (Wellesley Hills, Mass.) recorded his first career win in net for the Bantams after stopping all three Eagles shots that came his way.
