Box Score Manchester, N.H. - The Trinity College women's hockey team fell to the Saint Anselm Hawks, 5-1, on Wednesday evening at Sullivan Arena in Manchester in the Bantams' second road game in as many days. With the loss, Trinity falls to 2-9-2 overall while Saint Anselm improves to 11-2-2 on the year. Trinity returns to action on Friday when they host the Endicott College Gulls at the Koeppel Center at 12:30 p.m.
After ten minutes without a score to start the first period, Saint Anselm came alive to the tune of three goals in less than two minutes of play, starting at the 12:12 mark. Roookie Kaley Campbell (Colchester, Vt.) potted her second goal of the season to put the hosts up 1-0 before Kaitlyn Spillane (Franklin, Mass.) added the Hawks second goal, unassisted, just 59 seconds later. The Bantams were then whistled for a hooking penalty which gave Saint Anselm an extra attacker which led to the third goal in the period, this one off the stick of sophomore Maura Kieft (Littleton, Colo.) via an assist from senior Martha Findley (Duxbury, Mass.).
A Trinity interference penalty gave the Hawks another power play, this one early in the second frame, which led to Findley beating Trinity junior goalie Sydney Belinskas (Port Orange, Fla.) to the back of the net to put the Hawks up by a commanding 4-0 score. Trinity ended the shutout at the 9:54 mark in the second period when the Bantams defense came up with a turnover near their own blue line. Lauren MacMaster (St. Albert, Alberta) knocked the puck loose before it made its way up ice to senior captain Allie Bravi (Montreal, Quebec). Bravi put a shot on net that sent Saint Anselm goalie Maddie Scavotto (East Falmouth, Mass.) deep into her own crease, causing the net to come off the ground, however the officials ruled the puck had crossed the goal line before the goal was knocked loose.
Despite Bravi's first goal of the season, the Bantams could not cut any more into the deficit. The Hawks added their fifth goal of the night just over a minute into the third period, courtesy of Alex Starzyk (Enfield, Conn.) to ice the game.
