Hartford, Conn. – First-year defender Julia Lee (Ferguson's Cove, Nova Scotia) scored her first career goal and senior goaltender Sydney Belinskas (Port Orange, Fla.) posted a shutout with 17 saves to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 2-0 victory over the visiting Wesleyan University Cardinals in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's ice hockey action this evening at Kellner Center.  Trinity improves to 6-14-1 overall and 2-10-1 in the NESCAC, while the Cardinals fall to 5-12-4 overall and 1-8-4 in the league with their fifth loss in a row.  Trinity extends its unbeaten streak against Wesleyan to 22 games (19-0-3), dating back to the 2006-07 season opener, as the teams close the season series tomorrow after at 3 p.m. in Middletown.

Trinity dominated play with a 37-to-17 shooting advantage including a 12-to-6 edge in the first period.  Wesleyan sophomore goalie Allegra Grant (Winnetka, Ill.) saved the first 11 shots of the contest, including a one-on-one stop against Trinity senior forward Kayla O'Connor (Springfield, Mass.) five minutes into the game and a quick snag on a rebound attempt by Bantam rookie forward Karinna Cave-Hawkins (Edgewater, Md.) with seven minutes left before the first intermission. 

The Bantams earned a power play at 13:49 of the opening stanza and converted for just the second time this season in conference play when Lee tipped in a shot by senior forward Tasha Adams (Reston, Va.) that had already been redirected once by Cave-Hawkins on its way to the goal.  Belinskas kept the visitors off the board late in the final minute of the first period, turning away a wrist shot from the right wing by Wesleyan senior forward Cici Frattasio (Walpole, Mass.).

The Bantam defense held Wesleyan to just three shots in the middle period, although Belinskas thrilled the crowd with a stop against Cardinal freshman forward Sydnee Goyer (Bremen, Ala.) on a rebound.  Grant totaled 14 saves in the second period with one of the best coming against Trinity first-year forward Taylor Peracchio (Wayne, N.J.) who had gotten behind the Wesleyan defense with 2:30 on the clock. 

In the third period, Grant kept Wesleyan within one with more stellar play between the pipes, stopping Peracchio again on a one-timer with 8:50 remaining and Trinity sophomore forward Lauren Mac Master (St. Albert, Alberta) on a rush for two of her 10 saves in that frame.  Belinskas made eight saves on eight shots in her final collegiate period at Williams Rink, and Trinity sophomore blue liner Alex Sinson (Elm Grove, Wisc.) added an empty-net goal late with an assist by senior captain Kelcie Finn (Weymouth, Mass.) to put the game out of reach.  Grant finished with 35 saves for Wesleyan.
