Hartford, Conn. – Senior midfielder Annie Sullivan (Barrington, R.I.) scored three goals, including the game-winner, to lead the visiting Tufts University Jumbos to a 12-6 victory over the Trinity College Bantams in a battle of top-ten New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's lacrosse teams this afternoon at Sheppard Field.  Trinity, ranked No. 9 in the nation, falls to 5-1 overall and 2-1 in the NESCAC, while the No. 8-ranked Jumbos improve to 6-0 and take over sole possession of first place in the league at 3-0.  Six different Bantams scored goals, including sophomore midfielder Sydney Bell (Falmouth, Maine) who also notched three ground balls, a draw control, and two caused turnovers.

Trinity struck first when first-year attacker Lilianna Khosrowshahi (Briarcliff Manor, N.Y.) scored on a free-position shot 1:04 into the game.  Tufts evened the score with 18:02 on the clock on an unassisted tally by sophomore midfielder Catherine Lawliss (Portland, Oregon), but the Bantams took a 2-1 lead with 8:17 left in the first half on the first goal of the spring by Trinity sophomore midfielder Katrina Angelucci (Weston, Mass.).  Tufts scored twice in the final three minutes before the break to take the lead for good.  Junior attacker Emily Games (Wayne, Pa.) tied the game on a goal from senior attacker Dakota Adamec (Katonah, N.Y.) at the 2:51 mark, and Sullivan beat Trinity rookie goalie Gabriella Young (Raleigh, N.C.) with a free-position shot as time expired at the end of the first half.

The Jumbos kept the momentum out of halftime and scored three times in the first five minutes of the second stanza to take a 6-2 lead.  Trinity junior Ashley Turnbull (Ridgewood, N.J.) scored unassisted to break a 17:10 Bantam scoring drought with 21:07 left to play, but the Jumbos scored four of the next five goals to lead, 0-4, with 12:32 remaining.  Senior tri-captain Mary French (Gloucester, Mass.) and sophomore midfielder Olivia Weckwerth (Westborough, Mass.) scored late goals for the Bantams, but Tufts also scored twice late to make the final, 12-6.

Young finished with 11 saves for Trinity, while sophomore midfielder Marcella Flibotte (Cohasset, Mass.) notched a team-high four draw controls for the Bantams.  Tufts outshot Trinity, 33-22, and forced 22 turnovers while committing 16.  None of Trinity's goals were assisted.  Games matched Sullivan with three Jumbo goals, while Adamec finished with two goals and two assists, and senior goalkeeper Audrey Evers (San Francisco, Calif.) had seven saves for Tufts.  Trinity plays St. Lawrence on Wednesday at 6 p.m. on a neutral field at Rensselaer, while the Jumbos host Endicott tomorrow at 2 p.m.
