Box Score Beverly, Mass. - Senior tri-captain Caroline Curtin (Andover, Mass.) scored twice, including the game-winner in overtime, to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams to a 5-4 victory over the Endicott College Gulls in field hockey action this afternoon at North Field. Trinity, ranked No. 17 in the nation, improves to 4-2, while the Gulls drop to 4-4. Trinity will host No. 7-ranked Bowdoin in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) action on Saturday, September 28 at 11 a.m. in its next game. Curtin scored 4:03 into the overtime from fellow senior tri-captain Jordan Ragland (Westport, Conn.), after sophomore midfielder Caelin Flaherty (Upton, Mass.) had forced the extra session with a fourth-quarter goal that tied the game at 4-all. This was the first-ever matchup between the two teams.
Trailing, 1-0, early, Trinity scored twice in a row on rebounds by Curtin and Brown midway through the first quarter. then scored two unanswered goals through Curtin who made it 1-1 at 6:06 and Kendall Brown (Greenwich, Conn.) who made it 2-1 at 8:32. The Gulls responded with two goals of their own, as Sydney Poulin (Watertown, Mass.) tied the game at two at 27:36 and Julie Champigny gave Endicott a 3-2 lead at 31:16. The Bantams tied the game at 3-3 on a penalty stroke by Flaherty at 42:57. Jaylin Grabau (Lynnfield, Mass.) gave Endicott a 4-3 lead, but Flaherty answered with the game-tying goal from the top of the circle at 47:17. Rookie goalkeeper Emma Cropper (Wilton, Conn.) made four saves for the Bantams.
