Trinity Women Tie Williams In Bowdoin New Year's Hockey Classic

Box Score

Brunswick, Maine - The Trinity College Bantams and the Williams College Ephs skated to a neutral-site, non-conference draw in women's ice hockey action this afternoon in Bowdoin College's New Year's Women's Hockey Classic.  Trinity moves to 4-3-1 and extends in unbeaten streak to three games (2-0-1), having upended the host Polar Bears, 2-1, in overtime last night.  The Ephs are now 5-4-1.  Trinity will play the third of four games in five days on Sunday at 4:45 on the road against Suffolk.

The scoreless first period saw just seven shots, six by the Bantams, and Trinity senior goaltender Kai-Lilly Karpman (Playa del Ray, Calif.) kept the game at 0-0 with a denial of a three-one-one by breaking up a pass from left to right in front of the goal early in the second frame. The Bantams took the lead midway through the middle period, as sophomore forward Caelin Flaherty (Upton, Mass.) finished off a rebound in front of the net after junior defender Julia Lee (Ferguson's Cove, Nova Scotia) had shot from the right point.  Junior forward Karinna Cave-Hawkins (Annapolis, Md.) carried the puck down the left boards into the Williams zone and passed back to sophomore forward Cassidy McNeeley (South Easton, Mass.) who one-timed the feed near post to double Trinity's lead two minutes later.

With under two minutes remaining in the second stanza, Williams cut the deficit to one. Meghan Halloran received a long feed from Maddie Tix and roofed a shot from the outside edge of the left circle.  Trinity senior captain Alex Sinson (Elm Grove, Wisc.) extended the Bantams lead to 3-1 eight minutes into the final period with a goal from the left circle.  Halloran mounted a comeback for the Ephs with two goals in the final ten minutes. The junior picked the puck off the right boards deep in the zone and circled around before wristing a shot from outside the right circle. The equalizer came with 29 seconds remaining, finishing off a scrum in front of net.  Junior Camille von Steinbergs (Minnetonka, Minn.) shot twice early and sophomore forward Angelica Mushenko (East Longmeadow, Mass.) put one on net late in the overtime for the Bantams. Karpman finished with 18 saves and Emma London had 17 for Williams, which scored both its goals on power plays.
