Box Score Middletown, Conn. – The Trinity College men's ice hockey team finished its regular season slate on a high note, knocking off in-state league rival Wesleyan 3-1 on the road. After dropping its senior night battle against the Cardinals (12-11-1, 8-9-1 NESCAC) on Friday, the Bantams (17-6-1, 12-5-1 NESCAC) saw three different goal scorers on the afternoon, scoring a goal in each frame.
Sophomore Jonah Capriotti (Mount Hope, Ontario) picked up the win between the pipes, stopping 25 shots in the win. The Bantams finished the evening with the advantage in shots, 30-26.
It took less than four minutes for the Bantams to light the lamp, seeing a goal at the 2:51 marker in the first period. A beautiful stretch pass through the neutral zone from first-year Andrew Troy (Ithaca, N.Y.) found the tape of senior Adam Anderson (Lino Lakes, Minn.); Anderson's touch-pass found a streaking Nicholas Polsinelli (Galloway, N.J.), whose snapshot made it 1-0.
The Bantams doubled its lead with less than a minute remaining in the second period, taking advantage of a dominant period of play. Junior Dylan Healey (Goshen, N.Y.) was able to redirect a pass from a first-year Riley Prattson (Tolland, Conn.) during a two-one-one breakout, giving the visitors a 2-0 lead after 40 minutes.
Midway through the third period, the hosts cut Trinity's lead in half, making for an exciting end to the regular season. Walker Harris netted his fourth goal — and fifth point — of the series on a breakout, putting the Bantam defense to the test late. With its goaltender pulled and under 30 seconds left in the contest, however, sophomore Lucas Michaud (South Portland, Maine) scored an empty-netter, ending the game at 3-1.
Trinity finishes the regular season with a 17-6-1 overall record and a 12-5-1 record in the NESCAC. With Williams finishing with a 13-5-0 conference record, the Bantams will unofficially finish second in the league, and will host a quarterfinal game next weekend.
